Niger Delta youths want Jonathan impeached

A group, Niger-Delta Youth Awareness Council (NDYAC), has urged the National Assembly to impeach President Goodluck   Jonathan without delay. This, they said, would save the country from total collapse.
NDYAC said the action became imperative in view of Dr Jonathan unilateral decision to deregulate the downstream sector of the petroleum industry.
Besides, the group flayed his inability to curb the activities of the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram which had led to the incessant bombings and killings of innocent souls in some parts of the country.
According to the group, removing the oil subsidy without seeking the approval of both the Upper and Lower arms of the Legislature shows that the President is an autocratic leader who has no respect for the National Assembly.
The group, in a press statement signed by its National President, Dr Patrick Otekpo also described as incompetence the President’s inability to curb the menace of suicide bombers being spare-headed by an Islamic sect called Boko Haram.
NDYAC described President Jonathan’s decision to deregulate the downstream sector as heartless, saying the step was capable of disintegrating Nigeria.
It further said that such development must be generally deplored by all patriotic Nigerians.
“Research is still ongoing to ascertain what the offence of Nigerians in their own land may be in the hands of President Jonathan to place a heavy burden on them in the midst of threat of insecurity of lives and properties.
“The recent development of President Jonathan in governing Nigerians high-mindedly is apparently enough to awaken Nigerians to unanimously call for his immediate resignation.
“As such, we hereby call on the National Assembly of Nigeria to commence the impeachment processes of President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan to save Nigeria from total collapse,” the statement added.
