Bishop calls for Buhari’s arrest over 2015 comment

The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most. Rev. Felix Ajakaye, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure the arrest and prosecution of former Head of State, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for making unguarded statements.
The bishop said this in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday in an interview with journalists.
He said the security agents ought to have arrested Buhari for threatening that there would be bloodshed in the country if the 2015 was rigged.

According to him, rather than trading words with the retired general, the Presient ought to have asked law enforcement agencies to prosecute him for threatening the peace of the nation.
The cleric said Buhari, the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 elections, should not be allowed to destabilise the country because he wants to rule at all costs.
He stated that the likes of Buhari had loyalists who could translate such comments into actions, saying they should not be allowed to turn the country to a theatre of war.

Ajakaye said the nation was going through a trying time, adding that such inflammatory comment could worsen the already bad security situation in the country.
He said, “Nigeria belongs to all of us and we have no other place to go and we should watch our utterances, no matter our status. We are in a very trying time and we need to be prayerful and work.

“We need to be positive and concrete in our thoughts and work our thoughts. It is unfortunate and unacceptable for a person like Maj.-Gen. Buhari to have mentioned that Nigeria would be bloody in 2015.
“I don’t know what our security agents are still waiting for. They should be decisive no matter whose ox is gored. If another person had made such a statement, they would say he was planning something against the country.
“But for making such a statement I will say that seems to be his character and we should not allow him and others to be saying that anymore, the laws are there.”

  1. Trash! People should read the statement in the context upon which it was made before blabbing their desecrated and ominous mouth on issues which they have no knowledge. Sickening and maddening, Obj and GEJ had at one time or the other said worst things and you people found it appropriate then but an honest and call to order as Buhari's statement is is enough to generate this heat. Rubbish.
