PDP Govs ask President Jonathan to reverse Gov. Sylva’s disqualification.....

The president seem hell bent on frozing Sylva out of the race.....
One can only imagine the weight of his offence to the president, its quite obvious this is godfatherism at play here.
Slyva probably has failed to be the obedient servant but in an ideal scenario this tendency negates equity and fairness and its abhors the principles of a working democracy...........

GOVERNORS elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have asked President Goodluck Jonathan to reverse the disqualification of Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, from the primaries conducted last month.
President Goodluck Jonathan

It was learnt that the governors presented the demand to President Goodluck Jonathan at a meeting he held with them on Thursday. Jonathan and the governors had met shortly before the National Executive Council meeting of the PDP in Abuja.
Correspondence gathered that the governors told the President that only the reversal of the disqualification could unify the party.
Sylva’s colleagues had then begged Jonathan to allow the Bayelsa embattled governor contest in the primaries won by the President’s candidate, Dickson Seriake, but the President ignored their pleas.
Sylva was disqualified from participating in the November 19 governorship primaries of the party in Bayelsa by the PDP. Seriake Dickson, a member of the House of Representatives known to enjoy the backing of the President, won the primaries.
The President’s meeting with the governors was said to have held at the behest of President who reportedly got wind of a plot by the governors to confront him openly at the NEC meeting.
A source privy to the happenings at the meeting said Jonathan listened to the governors but refused to commit himself.
The meeting between the President and the governors were attended by the Vice-President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo; Senate President, Senator David Mark; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.
Also at the meeting were the Acting National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje and the Acting National Secretary of the party, Dr. Musa Babayo.
Other members of the party’s National Working Committee were asked to leave the venue of the meeting.
The meeting, which started at 1.15pm, ended at 2.38pm when Baraje led the attendees to the PDP NEC general meeting.
Before Thursday’s meeting, the governors were said to have met in Abuja on Wednesday to discuss the matter and how to handle it.
A governor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that “we agreed to confront the NEC and the President on why the Bayelsa State governor was disqualified (from the primaries). We also asked whether they wanted unity in the party by the action of the National Working Committee of the party.”
The PDP governors at the meeting included Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); Babangida Aliyu(Niger); Jonah Jang (Plateau); Sule Lamido (Jigawa);  Alhaji Ibrahim Shema (Katsina); Liyel Imoke (Cross River); and Sylva. Some deputy governors were also in attendance.

  1. This is a why many ppl say politics is a dirty game...the more you look the less you actually see. But speaking frankly, I dont think the president is doing a good thing by interfering in the politics of his state except of course it is for security purpose and if it is, the public has the right to know. If not, he should not follow the footsteps of OBJ who made governance difficult for state governors who did not support him...especially for his third tenure campaign.

  3. Is there any difference between GEJ and Obasanjo. Obasanjo showdown with Chris Ngige = GEJ showdown Timpre Sylva. So the man is jst taking after his father. A man who claims to respect the rule of law yet does not know what fedralism means - federal govt cannot interfere with state gov or politics.mchew
